Watched a chick almost back her car into a pack of tourists walking from their tourbus towards the Timmy’s (they were migrating en-masse without any regard for traffic or what was happening around them).I hardly recognize the place in daylight. I used to be in this place every other weekend … but always after dark. Fuel and Timmy’s in Edson … almost noon.Passed half-tank before Edson (only about 200km) … I’ll definitely have to watch my fuel consumption on the Dempster. Hauled ass … got lulled into ‘speed creep’ … always a risk when I’m on a road I know all too well.Light rain turned to lashing rain around Stoney Plain (about 25 minutes into the trip) to just outside of Edson … bike thermometer said 12C (in AUGUST!!!).Could hear thunder around the house as I was packing up, but only light rain.a year late),but here's the map of the route I ended up taking.ĭay 1 – Edmonton, AB to just west of Dawson Creek, BC – 779km I'm just pulling notes, pics, and video together (yes. Upon my return to YEG, I had a grand total of about 36 hours before I was scheduled to leave for the Dempster. The only reason this is even remotely relevant to this ride-report, is that following the trip to QC, we ditched the kids with Grandma and Grandpa (‘ditching’ is over-stating things … tough life … spending the balance of your summer break living on a lake with only Grandparental supervision … tough gig.). A great time … super nice folks, beautiful country, great food, lots of wildlife (both the two- and four-legged variety), and a tonne of rides that would be fantastic on a bike …. Starting out in Ottawa, we saw some of the touristy shit in Quebec City and Montreal, and little bit of camping off the beaten path (at least, the path usually beaten by us Anglophones) up in the Saguenay region of the province. So, Family Vacation 2015 was a couple of weeks in La Belle Provence … Quebec.
